Since childhood, when I first came across beautiful shells dotting the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea, I have been drawn to their sensuous beauty and infinite variety. Ever since then I have collected them wherever my coastal journeys take me. As in the case of my observational botanical studies, the high degree of naturalism is achieved by building-up transparent layers of watercolor glazes so as to maximize the iridescent, translucent quality of their markings, albeit via a firmer, more sculptural grasp of 3-dimensional forms in space.
